The San Joaquin Fish Hatchery has always been a fun place to go when the weather is nice.
It has raceways full of growing fish and you can throw food in to them.
But now, the fish hatchery has a new addition that makes it even better!
The Small Fry Trail is a play and picnic area for families that teaches about the life cycle of fish.
It has a digging area where kids can find hidden fish eggs,
some little slides,
a fishing themed play area with a real canoe to play in,
a fun photo op,
some spinning willow reeds and a log tunnel,
and a tree cave.
There are also lots of log bridges over the creek bed to walk across.
The best thing about this play area is that it’s in a secluded spot which allows you to let your kids run free.
There are also some picnic tables where parents can sit and see pretty much everything going on.
We saw kids of all ages playing here, and everyone was having a great time.
The Small Fry Trail provides a great opportunity for kids to have active, outdoor play in a safe environment.
We will definitely be spending a lot of time here when the weather is nice!
