AgVentures – A Hidden Gem

Have you ever heard about AgVentures?
We didn’t know about it until recently, so we decided to go check it out.

It’s an interactive kids museum located within the International Agri-Center in Tulare, and an amazing place for the kids to have fun and learn about agriculture.

The International Agri-Center is located right off highway 99, 45 minutes south of Fresno.
This is where the big World Ag Expo is held each year.
AgVentures is located in the Heritage Complex. Once you’ve arrived, look for this building:

When you enter into the museum, you’ll immediately be ‘wowed’ by the old style biplane and many antique tractors and farm equipment:

There’s even one tractor that the kids can climb in:

After checking out all the cool farm equipment, you can enter the interactive kids area.

Here, they have all sorts of hands-on exhibits to teach kids about many different aspects of agriculture:

One of the most unique parts of this museum is the tractor theater, where kids can sit in real tractor seats while watching a video that includes quiz questions that they can respond to and compete against each other.

The part that our kids spent the most time inĀ  was the farmer’s market, where kids can select fruits and veggies and weigh them.

But they also went back again and again to sit in the tractor and cotton harvesting machine, where they could play with all of the controls.

Our family spent about two hours at the museum.
There is a scavenger hunt form available, and it really did help the kids to absorb more information.

Overall, we were very impressed with the quality of the experience and the amount of fun and education for both young and old.
It was definitely worth the drive.

AgVentures is open Monday-Friday, 9:00am-4:00pm, but you need to check their website before you go because they’re closed during school tours.

They ask for a suggested donation of $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.
